A Journey Through the World of Perfumery: Scents Across Time and Cultures
In today's article, I wanted to highlight a journey through the world of perfumery.
Perfumery is not only a means that we use to give our image an additional touch, to set ourselves up for a new day with the help of a pleasant fragrance, but it is also a means and a tool that can send us mentally to other times and cultures.
Perfumery has an amazing ability to convey the aura of different eras and places and allows us to relive some historical and cultural moments through fragrance.
Some fragrances are associated with a certain country or with historical epochs. For example, notes of amber, vanilla, musk are notes inherent in oriental fragrances. And they can remind us of the fabulous East and send us on a journey through the stories of Shahirizada.
Citrus notes, floral notes can take us back to the Renaissance era.
The perfumery of blooming gardens can remind us of the gardens of rich manors.
Perfumes can reflect local traditions and cultural characteristics of different countries. For example, in India, the aromas of sandalwood, rose, and jasmine are popular. These notes emphasize the richness and luxury of Oriental culture; in France, more classical compositions with notes of lavender and vanilla prevail.
Each country has its own fragrance, and each country has its own smell, and often one or another fragrance sends us mentally to the country where we first got acquainted with this fragrance.
Aromas can transport us to a certain place and time. For example, the scent of lavender can remind us of fields in France, and the scent of coconut or exotic fruits such as pineapples can take us to the beaches of distant islands, or just remind us of the upcoming vacation. And the fragrance can help us immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of different regions of the world, relive the moments with which these fragrances were associated, or remind us of the country in which this fragrance was bought by us.
Thus, for particularly impressionable people who know and feel mainly by the sense of smell, fragrances help to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of various regions of the world and experience positive emotions without even leaving their home.
Thus, perfumery helps us travel to different countries, inhaling a particular fragrance and enjoying the atmosphere without even leaving home.
I also have such fragrances that are associated with other countries, for example, one such fragrance, JIL SANDER
Sun, I associate with Turkey, as this fragrance was acquired in this country, and I remember the events that took place at that time in my country.
And when I buy this fragrance again, it sends me back again and again to the days when I first met him.
Definitely, it sends us into the summer, the very name, tells us that this fragrance is for relaxation, for traveling to a sunny country, this is the beach, this is the sea, these are positive emotions, and for me this fragrance is definitely summer. Another fragrance that I associate with travel, specifically with Europe, with Portugal, with Lisbon, is the musky fragrance Narciso Rodriguez Narciso Poudree.
It is also associated with certain events in this country, and at the time when it was bought, this fragrance was new, and the country for me, Portugal, was new on my travel list, and therefore, undoubtedly, the bottle filled with musky notes is associated with Portugal.
Another bottle is Attar Collection The Queen of Sheba - the pearl of oriental fragrances. Despite the fact that I am not a fan of oriental fragrances, but nevertheless I have one fragrance that sends me mentally to eastern countries.
And this fragrance is not for permanent use, rather for winter, or when there is such a mood, when you want something oriental.
I also recommend it to those who love oriental fragrances, or are going to visit an eastern country in the near future – this fragrance will set you up in the right way.
It's no secret that when we visit a country, we can fall in love not only with the cuisine, not only with the smells, but also with the music of that country, and
during the visit, we are completely immersed in the culture of this country, imbued with its atmosphere through cuisine, smells, communication with people, language, weather, nature and everything related to this country.
Perfumery is becoming an integral part of the country's culture. I recommend that when you visit a country, you get acquainted not only with the cuisine, music and language of that country, but also with its smells.
And when getting acquainted with the smells, visit not only shopping malls where standard fragrances are sold, but also local shops where you can get acquainted with authentic fragrances and perfumes unique to this country.
Bring a piece of this country with you, and when you choose a perfume in another country, you will probably be guided by the mood that seized you when visiting this country.
While in Turkey, you will definitely buy oriental perfumes. In India, you can choose a perfume with the scent of sandalwood, jasmine, rose, etc.
And when choosing a perfume, you will focus not only on your inner feelings, but also on the impressions that you received during your visit to this country.
This is great, it means that when you return home and open the bottle you bought again, you will again plunge into the atmosphere of the country you have visited.
