Perfume and emotions: how fragrances affect our mood and mental well-being Today
On my channel, I often talk about perfumery and how it can affect our mood, our memories, charge us with positivity or, conversely, irritate. Some fragrances are becoming our favorites. We come back to them again and again, some brand becomes our favorite.
For example, I really love the Lancome brand and the Guerlain brand. There are practically no fragrances from these brands that would not suit me. These brands always have perfumes in their line with notes of jasmine, cherry, musk, floral, fruity notes, which are perfectly combined.
So it's impossible not to fall in love with them. These brands, each in their own way, have some kind of thin thread that runs through the entire range of perfumes, which makes me come back to them.
I also notice that with the release of a new fragrance, I myself am growing. I mean, those fragrances that were my favorites many years ago, today I also continue to like them, but they go beyond the scope of my favorite fragrances.
I have a new mood, new favorite notes and, accordingly, new favorite flavors.
And in today's article, I want to tell you that perfumes also affect our mood, and our mood also depends on which perfume we choose.
There are certain notes that evoke positive and negative emotions in us. And even if these notes are not included in the basic component of the perfume, they still affect our mood, even if they are not in the heart of the perfume.
In this article I will try to touch on
the topic of the effects of fragrances on humans, to explore the connection between certain scents and emotions, as well as to offer practical tips on using perfumes to improve mood and improve well-being.
What notes should be in a perfume to evoke positive emotions:
1. Fruity notes such as mandarin, apple, peach.
2. Floral scents, such as rose, jasmine, lily of the valley, can evoke a sense of peace and romance.
3. Woody notes such as sandalwood, vetiver, juniper can give a feeling of confidence and strength.
Which notes should be less, or they should not be at all:
1. Spicy notes, such as pepper, ginger, may cause irritation or discomfort in some people.
2. Heavy oriental fragrances with certain notes, such as musk, leather, can be associated with heavy or gloomy thoughts.
3. Some people may react negatively to scents that have negative associations for them from the past, for example, smells associated with unpleasant memories. It's individual. Track your reactions.
How to choose perfumes for the formation of pleasant emotions:
There are several rules for choosing a perfume that will evoke pleasant emotions and memories in you.
1. The first rule is the simplest: choose a perfume that you have already had. If you have in mind a perfume that you have already used or that was given to you and this perfume is associated with pleasant memories, then you can safely buy proven perfumes, and thus you are guaranteed to be provided with a pleasant mood.
2. The second rule is also simple: read the composition of the perfume, see which notes are included in the perfume, and based on your feelings and favorite notes, choose a perfume according to its composition. If you have notes that you absolutely do not like, avoid these notes when choosing your perfume.
3. The third rule is for those who want to buy a fundamentally new perfume. Choose perfumes that contain notes of fruit, floral, and sea notes. If you are guided by advertising, you can look at perfumes that are associated with summer, spring, femininity, relaxation, the sea, flower meadows and so on.
4. Another rule when choosing a perfume that will cause you pleasant emotions: try to choose a perfume from the brand that is most often found on your perfume shelf. A brand that produces perfumes very rarely fundamentally changes the composition of a new perfume, so most likely the new perfumes will either be a replica of some old perfume, or a new fragrance that somehow resembles the previous bottles of this brand.
5. Another rule that may help you when choosing a perfume: go to the store in a good mood and do not try to buy perfume on the same day. Apply the perfume on your hand, on your body or on special stickers. Sign these stickers, walk around with this perfume for a while, think about it and go back to the store to buy another day. Then there will be less temptation to buy what you don't need.
will fit.
Of course, in each of my articles I give examples of perfumes that I love myself and that fit this or that article, and today I will not change my rule.
